Easter .... Catching My Breath

Three days ago Easter flew by for our family, or at least for me.  First we went to church.  On the way home, Syd told us that "Jesus died on a cross."  She has been enjoying her Bee Hive class and her teacher, Ms. Linda.  She even received an Easter card in the mail from Ms. Linda, who by the way has a pair of silver sequence sandals that match a pair Syd likes to wear too!  They look like twinsies when they both have those shoes on.

Mel has been adapting to her daycare at church too.  She actually fell asleep in someone's arms this past Easter Sunday.  No more crying during the entire service!  Before church pics, the girls and us...

Once we got home, our friends the Parham's and the Kendall's came over with kids and baskets for the second annual Easter Egg Hunt at our house. It was fun, for everyone, but also a bit exhausting with so many munchkins running around.  Here are some pics of the day....

Then it was time for some sweet treats (chocolate covered rice krispy eggs, truffles) and Tang!

Angel Cake

Mel has a little cold (I think) or she is teething. While Syd watched Madagascar 2 with her daddy (before he left for work), I got Mel ready for bed. She pretty much laid there on the carpet while I dressed her and rubbed lotion on her dry thighs. I sang some songs to her, started the humidifier, gave her some Motrin and put her into bed.

When I came downstairs, I started prepping for making my first Angel Food Cake. The TV was turned off and Syd felt "sad." So I asked her to help me make the cake. She watched, and asked lots of questions, over and over again -- something she does so well! The questions soon disappeared when she tasted some left over rice krispy treats sitting on the counter nearby. Then she kept telling me she was going to finish all of it! Meanwhile, I prepared the "Angel Cake," as Syd called it. Put it in the oven, put her to bed, and put away cookware. I hope she will be excited to see her "Angel Cake" in the morning.

Easter Eve

A lot of preparation this year for Easter... baskets for the girls, of course.  Chocolate-covered rice krispy eggs for the kids to enjoy after their Easter egg hunt tomorrow.  Honey-baked ham and side dishes for lunch.  Then a special dinner with friends, just days before their baby girl arrives.   Here's a sneak peek....
