Who Cries at Pre-Ballet?

As promised for learning how to use the potty and big girl panties, Syd went to dance class today. Pre-Ballet, to be exact. Last night we went to Target to pick out the ballet attire she needed. Today, dressed and with some finishing touches (pink glitter eyeshadow and a pretty hair bow made by Aunt Brandy), Syd was super excited!

She was the only girl who kept looking back at me and saying "Hi Mommy!" Good thing she was a far distance from me and could not see me crying thru at least half of her 30 minute class. I held on tight to Mel, wriggling on my lap, and the tears dropped off my cheeks faster than I could take pictures (and I took over 100 pictures)!

Syd did the best she could. Some of the girls had obviously taken the class before and understood the teacher's instructions. At times Syd literally needed her teacher to hold her hand and direct her movements.

When class was over Syd ran back to me. She noticed that Mel had been kept quiet with fruit snacks, so she asked for some. Before I could dig it our of my purse, a little ballerina girl in blue ran up to Syd and grabbed her hand, leading her back to the dance floor where they played some make-believe ballet for a few more minutes.

Then the teacher announced that their first official performance is in 10 days! Now I could not breathe.... Syd already has a show to perform in! Emotionally, I don't think I am ready for this! She is so young... but so ready.
