Sydney's First Haircut

33 months and finally Syd had her first haircut today. It was a mommy-and-Syd day up in beautiful Lake Arrowhead. One of my favorite patient's mother, Jane, agreed so kindly to be the first to cut Syd's hair. I don't think I could have trusted anyone else on the planet to cut my daughter's hair... not that I wanted a complicated hair-style, but because Syd needed the patience, sweetness, kindness and calmness of someone like Jane.

Thank you Jane, for all that it took of you to do just a simple trim. And sorry for all the tears. I hope Syd remembers her promise not to cry the next time. And thanks to your friend for the "troll princess" that Sydney clenched with all her might.

After her haircut, Syd and I had lunch together at the Belgium Waffle House (she ordered PB&J and fries). Then she fed the ducks. Last stop was to pick out some jewelry and hair accessories for her at Claire's.

On the way home, Syd said "That was fun - coming to Lake Arrowhead to get my haircut!"
